Introduction
Following the postponement of the Easter Monday meeting, a slightly revamped Wacky Races will take place at King's Lynn this Friday 6 April (7pm). In action are the 1500cc Bangers with their annual Wacky Races and Commentator's Cup together with racing from the 4x4 SUV Bangers, Siamese Bangers and F2 Stock Cars.
There are currently 49 1500cc Bangers, 30 BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, 14 SUV 4x4 Bangers and 5 Siamese Bangers booked in for action.
Please note that we are currently fully booked for 1500cc Bangers.
Any driver who turns up without being booked in to race will have to pay for any complimentary admissions which they may be entitled to.
If you are wanting to race but not booked in you may book in to race by texting 07939 580652. If you are booked in but need to canel you can le us know on the same number.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 5pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.
1500cc National Banger Crazy Races
New national champion 830 Lee White heads the entry on Commentators Cup day, with extra prize money on offer courtesy of the Oxby family. The man he deposed, 566 Tony Pallett, is likely to be hot on his heels. 175 Karl Corsby and 517 Sid Cooper were also race winners last time out.
Former National Champion 566 Tony Pallett will be looking to bounce back with victory in the Commentator's Cup
There will be plenty more 1500cc specialists in action, including rising star 315 Nathan Webb and 113 Dan Wright.
Rising star 315 Nathan Webb should be in the mix
Fans of top Lincolnshire team the Mad Hatters will be pleased to see 399 Jonny Atkin and 601 Chris Medler on track, while 551 Brett Jackson is another popular figure.
Fans of the Mad Hatters will be pleased to see 601 Chris Medler on track
Despite starting from the front of the grid, many of those in the white grade will be much more focussed on having a good crash to entertain the crowd than trying to win the race.
1500cc Bangers are always full of action.
The 1500cc Bangers will also be entering the Wacky Races theme with a series of Crazy Races featuring a "Le Mans" type start, a "Spin and Start" and a "Spin the Leader" race.
Siamese Bangers
The double-decker contraptions make their second appearance at King’s Lynn, and have to be seen to be believed. In each pair, one driver will be in a Mondeo or similar car and will control the throttle and brake. His or her partner will sit in a smaller car bolted on top, from which they will control the steering. Sounds crazy? It is!
The Siamese Bangers produce some hilarious action with the driver in the top car controling the steering and the driver in the bottom car controlling the pedals
Unfortunately the entry of Siamese Bangers has dropped from that booked on Monday but we still have three driver combinations booked in for action with 121 Aaron Colbert & 551 Brett Jackson, 178 Kieran Bowman & 219 Robert Betts and 385 Paul Evans and 386 Sam Evans all looking forward to giving a demonstration of this type of unusual racing!
4x4 Bangers
The 4x4s also make their annual appearance and will provide a unique spectacle. A large entry will make for some very heavy crashing, with everyone out to have fun and entertain the crowd.
The 4x4 Bangers always produce plenty of action
170 Chris Shipp is a specialist in these machines. Local favourite 791 Nicky ‘Spud’ Young is sure to have the crowd on their feet, as will the likes of 390 David Gibson.
The 4x4 SUV Bangers take a lot of punishment and big hits
BrISCA F2 Stock Cars
The BriSCA F2 Stock Cars are a late addition to this year's Wacky Races and our thanks go to the drivers who are supporting this fixture to the extent of it being fully booked only 24 hours after being announced!
World Champion 1 Wim Peeters and National Points Champion 7 Gordon Moodie head a cosmopolitain entry. Peeters will be in action at the track for the first time since he won the World Final at King's Lynn last year whilst 7 Gordon Moodie has been concentrating on shale this year as he continues to perfect his new 2018 shale car.
National Points Champion 7 Gordon Moodie heads a cosmopolitain entry
A further three Dutch drivers are booked in for action with H30 Toon Scutt, H186 Ricardo Smidt and H230 Willy Schut also making the trip over.
226 Billy Webster was flying at our last F2 meeting and will be another to watch whilst Stoke final winner 377 Daz Shaw should also be challenging for the silverware on his return to red.
226 Billy Webster will be difficult to beat
Further down the grades 55 Courtney Finnikin excels at King's Lynn whilst 113 Pat Issit recently won his first F2 race and will be looking to build on that. King's Lynn based brothers 233 Rob Aldridge and 715 Scott Aldridge both looked quick last time out at the Adrian Flux Arena and could be challenging for a race win.
55 Courtney Finnikin always excels at King's Lynn
