Introduction

BriSCA Formula One stock cars return to King’s Lynn on Saturday night (21 October, 5:30pm) in the latest round of their Shootout for the silver roof. Support comes from two-litre Saloon Stock Cars contesting their Driver of the Year, and a second outing of the season for V8 Hotstox.

There are currently 46 F1 Stock Cars, 42 2L Stock Cars and 26 V8 Stock Cars booked in to race

Please note that any driver who turns up unbooked will not receive any complimentary admissions that they may be entitled to and may also not be allowed to race if the event is still fully booked.

Drivers should book in to race through their association.

Drivers please note that the pits open at  2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.

BriSCA Formula One

390 Stuart Smith Jr currently has a very healthy lead in the Shootout standings as he seeks his first silver roof. Smith was certainly the man to beat at King’s Lynn a month ago when he scorched to a heat-and-final double. He then returned to fourth in the grand national from the lap handicap, despite losing his wing mid-race.

 390

If the rest of the shootout drivers allow the in form 390 Stuart Smith to dominate on Saturday like he did the last King's Lynn expect this aerofoil to change to silver for 2018.

After strong recent form, which included winning the final at Belle Vue, and finishing third in the main event at King’s Lynn last month, 217 Lee Fairhurst lies second in the points. Third last year and second in 2013, can Fairhurst go all the way and lift his first national points title this year?

Having recently celebrated 30 years in the formula, there is nothing that 515 Frankie Wainman Jr hasn’t achieved in BriSCA F1. The current British Champion is third in the Shootout points and would love to lift a 14th national points title, which would be his first since 2008. First and second in the past two King’s Lynn finals, he is in good form and will be one to watch.

 515

515 Frankie Wainman was a double race winner at the last King's Lynn and will be very dangerous this Saturday!

Local driver 16 Mat Newson has lifted himself into contention with consistently good scores, particularly on shale. The popular racer who puts so much into the sport is surely long overdue a first major title. He will have plenty of support on the terraces as he hunts down those in front.

The current top-six in the Shootout points is completed by 212 Danny Wainman and world champion 445 Nigel Green. King’s Lynn hasn’t been the kindest track to Wainman over the years but he has shown good form on the Saddlebow Road shale this season and could be a dark horse. Green, the season-long points leader, admits that winning the silver roof would mean more to him than the world crown, but his Shootout campaign hasn’t gone to plan so far. He needs a big score to haul himself back into contention – finding the form he showed at the track on 2 September would put him in good shape.

 445

World Champion 445 Nigel Green desperately needs a big points haul on Saturday to put himself back into contention for the Shootout

King’s Lynn specialist and Sheffield final winner 55 Craig Finnikin will certainly be a major threat on the loose this weekend, even if he’s unlikely to challenge for the Shootout overall. Meanwhile 259 Paul Hines is a multiple final winner at the track in the past and first-time ‘Shooter’ 422 Ben Riley is showing a good account of himself, so both remain strong contenders on track.

Beyond the Shootout entry, we are pleased to welcome another very healthy showing of Dutch drivers. Their prowess on the loose, and action-packed racing style, are well known and makes them a very popular addition to proceedings.

 179

The Dutch Drivers always put on a great display when they race at King's Lynn and it is great to see H179 Sjaak Kenite making the journey back to King's Lynn after racing at the Adrian Flux Arena last month

Having just missed out on Shootout qualification, 555 Frankie Wainman Jr Jr will be keen to show what he can do, and King’s Lynn expert 335 Mark Woodhull will also be one to watch.

Local driver 326 Mark Sargeant returns to action and will have plenty of support, as will Cambridgeshire men 76 Aaron Cozens and 415 Russell Cooper, and the ever-popular 45 Nigel Harrhy.

 45

The ever popular 45 Nigel Harrhy probably had his best King's Lynn meeting to date last time out - will he be able to continue his KL form on Saturday?

Saloon Stock Cars

For many people, the Heavy Metal Brigade make the perfect partner to BriSCA F1, with no-holds-barred racing action guaranteed. This weekend, the Driver of the Year title – sponsored by Ray Goudy Trailer Repairs – is on the line, with a grid based on points scored weighted by grade.

641 Willie Skoyles Jr has won the title for the past two years. The local man would love to make that a hat-trick, especially if this is to be his last season in the formula. He will have his work cut out, starting well down the grid.

641f

641 Willie Skoyles Jnr will be going all out to win the 2L Stock Car Driver of the Year title for the third consecutive season

The front row comprises 304 Martyn Parker, who has been in top form recently and could be unbeatable if conditions take a turn for the worse, and Wisbech driver 157 Max Stott, who is certainly capable of securing his biggest success to date. 888 Shane Emerson – front row starter last year – and 538 Jake Swann are due to start on row two if they confirm their bookings, while all-action star 26 Tommy Barnes will be alongside 733 Kyle Picton on row three.

Newly-crowned ORC and World of Shale champion 349 Michael Allard could be one of the favourites for success from the fourth row where he will start alongside white-top 192 Robert Heanes.

349

Newly crowned ORC & World of Shale Champion 349 Michael Allard will be one of the favorites for the Driver of the Year title from his fourth row starting position!

Three more champions will be on the grid. World title winner 306 Daniel Parker, European champion 730 Deane Mayes and British champion 158 Shane Davies – a title he won at King’s Lynn – will be major contenders regardless of their grid positions.

The hugely-decorated 499 David Aldous (winner in 2013) and top hometown driver 428 Lee Sampson also know what it takes to win big races, while 570 Simon Venni has often gone well in this race.

499

2013 Driver of the Year winner 499 David Aldous has been in great form recently and will have a great chance of taking the title for the second time on Saturday!

Welcome visitors come in the form of Dutchmen H32 Frankie van Riet and H400 Mieky van Rosmalen, while 38 Barry Glen also makes the journey from Scotland once more. Top entertainer in the Bangers, 100 Callum White is set to make his debut in Saloon Stock Cars.

V8 Hotstox

In recent years, the Rover V8-powered stock cars have made only a single appearance each year at King’s Lynn. But now they are returning for a second visit, with the line-up headed by world champion 1 Adam Joyce.

Four-time world champion 131 Kevin Stuchbury will also be making an appearance, along with 2016 British champion 211 Phoebe Wainman. The drivers who finished second and third in the British Championship at King’s Lynn in July, 298 Tom Spencer and 288 Jon Brown, will be looking to continue that kind of form.

211

2016 British Champion 211 Pheobe Wainman will be in action in the V8 Stock Cars

There are also plenty more rising stars in the field, including 69 Matt Barnard who has impressed many with his performances this year.
