Introduction
BriSCA Formula One stock cars roar into town in an eagerly anticipated wildcard world qualifying round at King’s Lynn this weekend (24 March, 5:30pm). After snow put paid to our first meeting of the month, this will be the first stock car racing action of the year at King’s Lynn. The monstrous BriSCA F1s will be joined on track by BriSCA Formula Two stock cars and the Heritage Formula Two stock cars for plenty of bumper-bashing action.
There are currently 48 F1 Stock Cars, 62 F2 Stock Cars and 19 Heritage F2 Stock Cars booked in to race
Please note that this event is close to being fully booked - any driver who would like to race who is not booked in must contact 07939 580652 immediately. Any drivers who turn up not listed may not be allowed to race or will not receive and complimentary tickets which they are entitled to.
Drivers please note that the pits open at 2pm and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race. F1 Stock Cars in the White & Yellow Final should ensure they have turned up in time to be scrutineered and ready to be gridded at 5.15pm

After winning the last two finals of 2017 at the track, on his way to the national points title, 390 Stuart Smith Jr leads the crews into action and has the added incentive of a £1000 purse up for grabs if he makes it a hat-trick. Smith will be aiming to be the first driver to ever win three finals in succession at King's Lynn. Check out more information on this here.
390 Stuart Smith Jnr will be looking to become the first driver to win three F1 Finals in succession
But could that prove more of an incentive for others to stop him? Long-time family rival 515 Frankie Wainman Jr is sure to have something to say about it, after missing out on a similar bonus two years ago. Wainman will as ever be joined by younger brother Danny (212) and son Frankie Jr Jr (555), but now there will be a fourth Wainman on track too. FWJ’s daughter Phoebe (211), who has stepped up to the Big League on a full-time basis this year, will race her F1 at King’s Lynn for the first time.
WIll British Champion 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr have something to say about Smith's attempted hat trick of final victories?
Multiple champion 4 Dan Johnson makes his return to the tracks after cutting short his time on the sidelines and deciding against selling up. He loves the sport too much, which is great for those of us watching from the safe side of the fence, as Dan is a no-nonsense racer who will always make full use of the bumper and never settle for second.
Fans of "real" Stock Car Racing will be delighted to see 4 Dan Johnson is back in action
The early leader of the grading points after last weekend’s action is 217 Lee Fairhurst, who will aim to continue that form, as will 94 John Dowson Jr, who took the main event last weekend at Belle Vue. 45 Nigel Harrhy and 192 Luke Dennis also started the season in great form and will no doubt be full of confidence.
94 John Dowson had a blistering start to the 2018 season where he won the final last weekend
Other star names likely to be at the forefront of proceedings include Norfolk’s own 16 Mat Newson, former silver roof holder 197 Ryan Harrison and a man who has a great record at King’s Lynn, sitting just outside the top 10 of final wins at the track, 259 Paul Hines.
259 Paul Hines has a great record at King's Lynn and will be looking to get further up the list of all time King's Lynn final winners on Saturday
The large entry is packed with plenty more potential winners – and spoilers – but it may be worth keeping an eye on 293 Eliot Smith, a surprise final winner at King’s Lynn last year, track specialist 335 Mark Woodhull and local favourite 326 Mark Sargent.
King's Lynn specialist 335 Mark Woodhull is capable of winning any race he enters at the Adrian Flux Arena
We are also delighted to welcome regular Dutch visitors 54 Sierd de Vries and 295 Willem Zwerver.
54 Sierd de Vries is always an entertaining performer at King's Lynn
F2 Stock Cars
This weekend’s meeting will be the track’s world qualifying round for the BriSCA F2s after the scheduled date was snowed off earlier this month.
Topping the entry is 11-time national points champion 7 Gordon Moodie, who will be at the wheel of his new RCE shale car, the fortunes of which are being closely followed by many. Moodie finished second in the World Final at King’s Lynn last year and also in the track points – an impressive effort from his Scottish base on his return to regular shale racing.
The fortunes of 7 Gordon Moodie and the new RCE shale car are being followed by many
World of Shale champion 225 Tony Blackburn, who won the meeting final at this event last year, will proudly display his twin gold stripes, while there are plenty more top names in the bulging red grade, including the only man to win two finals at the track last year, 226 Billy Webster.
Final winner at our Christmas meeting, local man 124 Ollie Skeels starts from the red grade as a result, and has had a great start to the season, along with running mate 78 Henry King, with Ollie’s younger brother Marcus (321) also moving into the F2s this year. Superstox multi-champion 682 Jason Cooper will again be in action after having several shale outings last year, and is joined by another man who’s done a lot of winning on the Spedeworth and Incarace tracks, Lightning Rod leading light 503 Jordan Murray.
124 Ollie Skeels has been in great form recently which saw him win the final at King's Lynn at Christmas together with winning the final at Belle Vue last weekend
Shale specialists 298 Jake Walker and 905 Rob Mitchell are likely to be major contenders, but there are also plenty of big-name drivers who are more known for their tarmac racing but have begun to spread their wings – they include 527 James Riggall, 700 Adam Rubery and 761 Richard Bowyer.
905 Rob Mitchell is likely to be a top contender for honours
Long-distance traveller 127 Matt Stoneman also comes into that category, and he will be joined by fellow West Countryman 111 Lewis Geach.
Despite being based in the West Country 111 Lewis Geach is a regular at King's Lynn
Others to keep an eye on include top local 103 Carl Issitt and his son 113 Pat Issitt who was a race winner last time out and could be one to watch from the front of the pack, while 377 Daz Shaw could be very dangerous from the blue grade.
Following his debut win in the F2 Stock Cars at Christmas 113 Pat Issitt will be searching for more glory this Saturday
World Final weekend meeting final winner 55 Courtney Finnikin will be hoping to avoid the sort of trouble she hit at the start of last year when she rolled at the track twice in two meetings.
55 Courtney Finnikin will be hoping to avoid rolling over like she did in the first two meetings of 2017
The packed white grade, including speedway convert 344 Luke Woodhull and likely candidate for novice of the year, 324 Jordan Thackra, won’t be pushovers for those coming through from further back.
Heritage F2
After their successful appearance last year, the Heritage Formula Two stock cars make their return to the Adrian Flux Arena, with cars that replicate those of the first decade of F2 racing, the 1960s.
Bristol promoter and Gold Cup winner 728 Graham Bunter heads the entry, and will be joined as ever by son Jack (128).
Others likely to be on frontrunning pace are 247 Andy Webb – who won the BriSCA F2 world championship more than 50 years ago – 47 Giles Carter and 23 John Clements, all of whom won races at the track last year.
247 Andy Webb - winner of the BriSCA F2 Stock Car World Final in 1967 - won the Heritage F2 final here last year!
Previous winners of the Heritage gold roof competing this weekend 198 Alan Nicholson, 205 Paul Rookyard and 773 Nick Whitney, while 27 Wayne and 271 Dave Helliwell are also likely to be ones to watch.
198 Alan Nicholson will be one to watch!
WIll the top three in this year's final be more "heritage" than the top three last year (247 Andy Webb, 728 Graham Bunter and 198 Alan Nicholson) - who had a combined age of 214 years!
