F2 Stock Cars
If the booking list is anything to go by – the F2 Stock Cars are in for a huge year in 2020. Who expected a bumper booking list of nearly 90 cars from the formula?! A massive uplift of almost 50% on the previous season.
The traditional opening night World Championship Qualifying Round at stake; a star studded cast; a real who’s who of the F2 World scheduled – they’re travelling far and wide for this!
An important night of F2 action - expect the bumpers to be going in!
Current World Champion Gordon Moodie (7) will be kicking off his 2020 title defence and looking to get his Gold Roof year off to a good start. New Points Champion Luke Wrench (560) will be showing off his new Silver wing; Wrench dramatically improving on the shale in recent years and will likely be one to watch.
European and King’s Lynn Track Champion Stephen Mallison (788) is a shale specialist worth keeping a watch on and will be looking to hold on to his track champion crown this year. Mallison just pipped Andrew Palmer (606) to the track championship by one point; Palmer is another who simply flies on the shale and will certainly be there or thereabouts at the chequered flag.
Making a return to F2’s is 8X World Champion Rob Speak (218); last season racing the 2L Saloons; Speak returns to the F2 class this season with the hope of making it on the World Final grid at his home track at Skegness later this season. Neal Smith (657) also a welcome return to the F2’s; using the Christmas meeting and last weekends practice day to get back upto speed, Smith will be back in the mix properly on Saturday. Welcome back both; it will be interesting to see how they get on that’s for sure!
Two returning drivers to the formula - we're excited to see how they get on!
As is often the case, we also welcome visitors crossing the North Sea for some early-season shale shifting; veteran campaigner and World of Shale Champion Toon Schut (H30) leads the charge of the Dutchmen, closely followed by Dutch Master of Shale Champion Riccardo Smidt (H186); joined by a number of fellow Countrymen throughout the grades including F1 Stock Car Star driver Jelle Tesselaar (H410) – the Drivers from Holland will be right up there in contention on the night; it’s great to see them coming over in such great numbers too.
Of a list of 90 there’s so many great drivers to mention, some strong shale contenders in the shape of Andy Ford (13), Kyle Taylor (136), Rob Mitchell (905), Michael Lund (995), plus some great young talent to keep watch on also Harley Thackra (9) who had a steady shale debut at Christmas, Charlie Guinchard (183) who keeps getting better every time you watch him, Jordan Thackra (324) and Steven Burgoyne (674); it’s going to be a superb F2 Stock Car outing!
Action all the way ini the F2 Stock Cars
2L Saloons
2019 saw Diggy Smith (116) cement his status as the man to beat in the 2L Saloons by taking a large proportion of titles on offer; including the track championship which he sealed at the Double Points Christmas finale meeting, holding his nerve and storming to the championship. He’s back for more in 2020; what’s in store this year for the veteran campaigner?
Clash of the titans at King's Lynn
As is the norm the Champions will be out in force; World of Shale Champion Luke Dorling (120), Irish Open Champion Adam O’Dell (171), European and National Champion Daniel Parker (306) plus National Series and English Champion Deane Mayes (730); it’s a star studded line up all looking to kick off 2020 with success.
Keep an eye on Timmy Barnes (131) and Billy Smith (161); they certainly set about one another at the Christmas meeting; could that feud continue Saturday?
Timmy Barnes (131) and Billy Smith (161) could be worth keeping an eye on.
The local stars are out in force including Lee Sampson (428) plus the Freestones; Wesley (340) and Austen (341) who should all be in the thick of the action. To the long distance travellers – Scottish based Barry Russell (600) keeps up his record for attending most King’s Lynn meetings. Russell’s fellow Countryman Ross Watters (670) also making the long haul down from North of the Border. Much like the F2’s, drivers from Mainland Europe are a welcome addition and will be heading over too; Daniel De Hoop (97) and Nick Antwerpen (153).
From the very new; Rowan Venni (370) making his 2L Saloon debut meeting to veteran racer Ivan Street (420) who is back for another season; and all inbetween it’s a hugely competitive night of 2L Saloon action.
2L Saloon Stock Car action is some of the best in the Country.
1300 Stock Cars
The 1300 Stock Cars have rapidly increased in popularity in recent years and another full grid of 40 of them scheduled once more; it looks to be another great year for the class. Much like the 2L Saloon Stock Cars; hard hitting, fence clattering action!
National Points Champion Jacob Bromley (303) leads the charge, Bromley taking the silver roof with just a handful of points over second place. Bromley will be making sure he’s in contention on Saturday you can be sure of that.
Dan Booth (216) will be hoping to keep clear of pile ups on Saturday
World of Shale champion Dan Booth (216) had a quieter year in 2019 than his usual standards; he will be looking to get 2020 off with a bang this weekend. He will be joined by a strong line up of other likely frontrunners including Todd Payne (149), Lauren Overy (317) and Martin Taylor (422); all of which are very quick on their day; not forgetting Kevin Shinn (400) and Ben Englestone (769) always quick and both love to get stuck in!
Daniel Rea (60) battled through the crashes to a successful Halloween meeting in October.
Daniel Rea (60) will be one to watch; only a handful of outings at the end of 2019, but saw some strong results including a fine final win at our Halloween Carnival, expect some good things from him in 2020!
A great line up of 1300’s, there’s so many you want to keep an eye on; but King’s Lynn regulars; Ricky Ivatt (55), Beau Southgate (241) and Stephen Murphy (561) will be the pick!
Action all the way in the 1300s!
Expect the bumpers to fly, metal to clash and the fence to be rattled; a great night of Stock Car action at the Adrian Flux Arena this Saturday.
