Introduction
Part two of the annual Icebreakers is the 1500cc Banger version taking place at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, on Sunday 3 February (12 noon). Fully booked with 43 teams, it is wall-to-wall action guaranteed.
The arena boasts great viewing all around (plenty of under cover viewing too!), free on site and overflow parking, disabled viewing, licensed bars, ample food outlets and other great facilities. Please note that all bags will be searched on entry and coolboxes, glass and alcohol are not allowed to be bought into the venue.
There are 145 1500cc Bangers (38 teams), booked in to race.

Drivers please note your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race. Please note you will not be able to save space in the pits and if you want to park with someone please make sure you turn up with them. Only race transporters will be allowed in the pits
1500 Bangers
Defending champions are Team Starky, crewed by the rapid Stark brothers with #88 Lyndon Stark leading the way. Last year’s title was the team’s first major honours and they’ll be planning for it not to be the last.
Part of the winning team last year and likely to feature well again this time.
Team Mates will also have their eyes set on victory having placed third last year as well as winning the East Anglian title in the summer. #830 Lee White has entered two squads for the event. His ‘A’ team, also featuring Micro UK champion #566 Tony Pallett, will take some beating, while the ‘B’ team is more likely to go crashing.
It’s fair to say that a much greater proportion of the teams will be chasing the entertainer honours, guaranteeing an awesome afternoon of crashing. Defending the Icebreaker Entertainers’ League are legendary local outfit the Predators, led into action by individual Entertainers’ League champion #178 Kieran Bowman.

Hoping to go one better than last year are the southern-based Bears. More well known for their exploits in Unlimiteds, you can be sure that #43 Luke Maynard and #321 Kieran Fry will get stuck in just as hard in the smaller cars.
Hailing from a similar region – and also better known for their crashing in Unlimiteds – are Team Sowter/Filmer. Brothers Carl (#288) and Taylor (#388) Sowter were in the thick of the action at the recent Unlimited Icebreaker and will be joined by regular team-mates Jack (#883) and Tom (#884) Filmer for some more wrecking in the medium-sized car version.
It’s great to see two entries from the ever popular Mad Hatters, who were runners-up last year. Led into battle by #390 David Gibson, the ‘A’ team is a true reunion for the boys from Bourne, with #391 Ben Gibson returning to action alongside top entertainer #392 Sam Baines and the ever-committed #399 Jonny Atkin. The ‘B’ squad has a Grey & Black flavour to it with #382 Jack Foster Jr and his uncle Mark (#180) making guest appearances in red and yellow.

The Licquorice brothers, James (#51) and Jack (#511), took one of their Allsorts teams to a trophy placing in last year’s Icebreaker Entertainers’ League and will be out to do the same this year, with three squads entered. There’s a distinctly continental feel to the line-ups with five Dutchmen joining the regulars. Infamous crasher #100 Callum White leads the ‘C’ team into action but he’ll have to be going some to top James Licquorice’s recent performance in the Micro Bangers when he pulled off what’s likely to remain one of the most spectacular crashes of the year.

After top local entertainer #791 Nicky Young donned the colours of the Shunters at the Unlimited Icebreaker, #513 Sean Harvey and #514 Charlie Taylor return the favour for the annual appearance of the Mad Mob. They will be strong contenders for Entertainers’ League honours.

Another revived team name is that of the Ram Rods for the Lown family who have a long history on the local scene under that name.
From the West Midlands, Icebreaker regulars the Demons will make a quick return after their appearance in the Unlimited version, while making the long trip from the North of Scotland are the Sesh Pistols, with a distinct flavour of the Junkyard Dogs, staunch supporters of the Icebreaker.
From Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire come the Wild Boyz, more Icebreaker loyalists, with two teams entered by captain #43 Nicky Bishop in their distinctive colours for an afternoon of crashing.

Making a shorter journey from Lincolnshire are the Forceshift team who could spring a surprise, while the Boro Boys represent Peterborough.
One intriguing line-up is that of Black’s Allstars which includes none other than #119 Davey Cox, one of the most legendary drivers in the history of the Icebreaker with plenty of titles to his name in both the Unlimited and 1500cc versions.
That is merely scratching the surface of the enormous entry, and it’s just as likely that a team we haven’t mentioned will be the star performers on the day for a meeting which really can’t be missed.
