Introduction

It’s Banger Racing all the way at the Adrian Flux Arena on Sunday afternoon (6 August, 1pm), with the ever-popular Micro Bangers ably backed-up by Junior Bangers and Lady Bangers.

 

There are currently 66 Micro Bangers, 25 Junior Bangers and 19 Lady Bangers booked in to race

Please note that any driver who turns up unbooked will not receive any complimentary admissions that they may be entitled to and may also not be allowed to race if the event is still fully booked.

Drivers please note that the pits open at 10am and your early arrival will be appreciated. Drivers turning up in the last hour could well find themselves missing their first race.  

 

Micro Bangers

Sunday’s meeting is the final qualifying round for next month’s UK Championship, a title won last year by young gun 322 Tom Fox, who was yet to book to race at the time of writing.

So heading the entry is British champion 830 Lee White who is in the form of his life, also leading the national points by a long way. He is being chased by teenage sensation 757 Callum Gill who tends to prefer racing the bigger cars, so it will be interesting to see how he goes this weekend.

Former world champion 673 Darren Fendley, twice UK champion 337 Ashley Garrod and the man who currently tops the UK qualifying points, 888 Lloyd Stark, are also likely frontrunners.

National champion 566 Tony Pallett always enjoys a run-out in the Micros, as do Saloon Stock Car racer 321 Marcus Skeels and former BriSCA F2 superstar 921 Jack Aldridge.

Among the Micro specialists set to liven up the action are 851 Adam ‘The Intimidator’ Storr, and 135 Donny and 142 Aaron Mann.

Further ones to watch include 99 Ricky Garrod and father-and-son duo 661 Shaun and 662 Dalton Smith, but in truth the packed entry is full of drivers whose main intention is to have a good crash and entertain the crowd.

 

Junior Bangers

The Junior Bangers make a welcome return for their first outing at King’s Lynn in more than two months. Setting the pace so far this season has been long-distance traveller 90 Joey Holmes Jr. Also impressing have been 854 Aiden Storr, who scorched to a win in the final on May Day, and former Ministox man 328 Ben Nichols who took the final at Northampton in April. Consistently strong performances leave 608 Lennie Murkin fourth in the points.

999 Louie Cottrill continues to mark himself out as a rising star of the sport, and was one of the drivers who last weekend represented Trackstar in the European Championship at Aldershot in Hampshire.

Newly promoted to the yellow grade, 114 Luke Spinks impressed last time out with a heat win, while from nearer the front of the grid, 331 Archie Fryett will aim to make his Ministox experience count.

 

Lady Bangers

For the Lady Bangers, it’s been a very quiet first half of the season, with no action here since their magnificent performance in the Battle of the Sexes at the start of May. Multi-champ 477 Amy Brown was a winner that day and heads this weekend’s entry, along with British champion 127 Helen Roberts.

Regular star performer 74 Caroline Garner, and last season’s sensation 72 Breeze Atkin should also be ones to watch.
