Introduction
An afternoon of festive stock car and banger racing takes place at the Adrian Flux Arena on Bank Holiday Tuesday, 27 December (1pm). The popular Micro Bangers top the bill with a capacity entry for their annual three-a-side team championship. Providing support are 1300cc Stock Cars.
Bookings are still available for this meeting.
There are currently 126 Micro Bangers and 25 1300cc Stock Cars booked in to race.

Micro Bangers
Locally-based Team Jackpot will start among the favourites for team success. Runners-up for the last two years, the Swaffham squad’s ‘A’ team is crewed by brothers 337 Ashley, 338 Terry and 339 Jack Garrod. Diss trio 326 Shane Lynn, 328 Daniel Lathan and 388 Emmerson Fairweather man the dangerous-looking ‘B’ lineup, while 9 Bruno Norman and 99 Ricky Garrod form the ‘C’ string.
Defending champions are Team Mates who this year enter five squads. Their ‘A’ team is fronted by 830 Lee White who also has a healthy lead in the National Points standings. The race for the silver roof reaches its climax with White 18 points clear of 88 Lyndon Stark (Team Skint). Both are seeking to strike silver for the first time in their careers.
Others to look out for in Team Mates colours include brother-and-sister pairing 10 Ben and 818 Tiff Collins in the ‘B’ outfit, new National Champion 566 Tony Pallett in the ‘D’ lineup and 517 Sid Cooper in the ‘E’ team.
Lincolnshire’s Mad Hatters, former champions in the event, have entered two intriguing-looking teams. The first is headed by 399 Jonny Atkin, with support from 601 Chris Medler and 308 Adam Richardson. 390 David Gibson tops the second, where he is joined by 55 Ricky Ivatt and 364 Bradley Lee, the former Junior Banger dominator who makes his first senior appearance at the track.
The successful Team Bash entries include top local drivers 673 Darren and father 674 Ian Fendley, plus entertainers 155 Sam Coote, 183 Karl Thorpe and 674 Luke Childerhouse, which should guarantee some hard-hitting action. Watch out too for the Boston Warlords and the Wisbech-based Firm when it comes to spicing up the action.
The nationally renowned Predators include the experienced 176 Ady Gibbs plus young guns 178 Kieran Bowman and 186 Brett Gedney in their line-up. With no Gypsy Crew teams entered, who will they be getting stuck into?
With such a huge entry, we’re only scratching the surface in these words. Anything could happen on the day, but other likely entertainers that stand out include top Norfolk team Damage Inc, with something of an unfamiliar line-up, the Licquorice All Sorts, Beacon Bandits and the largely Sheffield-based Dirt Bagz.
The Yorkshire-based Wild Boyz are always great entertainers in team events, as are the Intimidatorz who on this occasion have another very interesting-looking line-up. Joining the Intimidator himself, 851 Adam Storr, are two gents more often seen behind microphones at the Adrian Flux Arena, 25 Matt Black and 974 Alistair Oxby, reprising their entry from last year’s event. The Ox will be hoping to last a bit longer this time!
Finally, experienced Saloon Stock Car racer 26 Tommy Barnes teams up with fellow Dereham man 199 James Bishop and an as-yet unnamed third runner to form Tommy’s Barnestormers. Barnes knows how to make mischief on track so will definitely be one to watch.
1300cc Stock Cars
The 1300s complete the bill in their last outing of the year. Outgoing National Points Champion 340 Wes Freestone will be donning silver for the final time, and will aim to go out on a high. Joined by in-form brother 341 Austen Freestone, they, along with 149 Todd Payne, should be among the quickest on track.
There are welcome visits from Scotsmen 77 Jordan Cassie, 122 Zak Gilmour and 631 Peter Low. With such a large entry of lower graders, the trio could find it hard work to come through the field which may lead them to focus on taking out as many Sassenachs as possible! Low in particular is well known for getting involved in the rough stuff, so is definitely one to keep your eyes on.
Doubling-up in both formulas in action will be 55 Ricky Ivatt. He is joined in the yellow grade by former Gold Roof champion 673 John Moat and fellow experienced runners 780 Simon Sparrow and 838 Ady Wales.
The bulging white grade proves the health of the formula, with more new names joining the ranks for this festive outing. 444 Natasha Street could be one to watch from the front of the grid – if she gets away, she will be hard to catch.
