2L Stock Car European Championship

Following what will undoubtedly be an exciting night of qualifying on the 3 August, the 2L Stock Cars take centre stage on the 4 August as King's Lynn stages the European Championship for the fourth time. The title is one of the most important in the sport having first been staged in 1983 at the Kaldenkirchen track in Germany where it was won by 115 Bert Houben.

Defending champion 131 Timmy Barnes is one of five previous champions on the grid with the others being 600 Barry Russell, 116 Diggy Smith, 641 Willie Skoyles and 730 Deane Mayes. Can one of these add another title to their collection or will there be a new name on the roll of honour?

Can 2022 European Champion 600 Barry Russell regain the title. He is no stranger to big wins at King's Lynn as this spectacular last bend attack which won him the ORC title at Lynn - also in 2022 shows! 

The meeting will start with a last chance race where the top ten drivers will earn their spot on the grid (amount may be reduced if more drivers are taken through a tie on scores on Saturday night).

131 Timmy Barnes is hugely successful around King's Lynn but has yet to lift a roof grade championship around the Adtian Flux Arena  - will this be ended with a successful European title defence?

Following the last chance will be the championship race with the grid lined up in points order from Saturday night.

That is not all for the Saloons though!

Following the European Championship will be a race which many drivers see as equally important to win - if not event more - than the European Championship - the Steve Newman Memorial

It doesn't seem like 5 minutes since Steve was causing chaos around King's Lynn and the other 2L tracks around the UK. Sadly it is now over a decade since Steve paid the ultimate price for doing what he loved so much.

it doesn't seem like 5 minutes since 311 Steve Newman was causing chaos around the 2L Stock Car tracks and running his Memorial Race is an honour for everyone connected with Trackstar.

Remembering Steve is so important and it is our honour to once again stage the Steve Newman Memorial which this year will be the first all comers race following the European Championship - and to many will be a race which will be as equally - if not then even more - important to win than the European Championship. 

116 Diggy Smith won this Memorial race for the first time in 2023 and his delight was for all to see as he triumphantly punched the air when crossing the line and clearly emotional when he collected the trophy declared he was prouder to win this than any other championship.

F1 Stock Car Ben Turner Memorial

The highliight of Sunday for the F1 Stock Cars will be the Ben Turner Memorial.

The Sunday meeting will begin with a White & Yellow race which happens at most non championship F1 meetings at King's Lynn.

Following that will be another full format F1 meeting which will have some special significance in the Shootout with it being the cut off meeting. It is currently very close for the last couple of places and it could go down to the wire to see who makes this year's prestigious series.

Following the White & Yellows Race we envisage running a full format meeting.

The F1 Stock Car meeting final on Sunday sees the 9th running of a race put together by the Turner family to remember the life of Benny who sadly lost his life aged just 15 in May 2015 to a rare form of cancer after an agonisingly tough three year battle. He was a huge F1 Stock Car fan, especially Frankie Wainman Jnr and he also loved everything agricultural, especially tractors. With thanks to Ian Bennett and Howard Turner for asking us to hold the race; we are immensely honoured to be hosting this special race. We hope it's a good one - this is for you! #RacingForBen

 

The meeting will end with a 12 lap Dash for the Cash instead of the usual Grand National. This race will also carry points and could be instrumental in who qualifies for this year's Shootout although the final winner will not be on the lap handicap so will be on single points!
