Psycho’s Axe-Tinction

The axe will finally fall of the twenty plus year career of Banger star 401 Steve “Psycho” Hemmings on Saturday 18 May 2013.

Psycho is known throughout Banger Racing folklore having had some of the biggest wrecks which the sport has seen as well as racing lots of material throughout the last twenty years. What’s more the way that Psycho has raced them and wrecked them together with the attitude he has had both on and off track throughout his career has made him a firm favourite on both sides of the fence.

Having known of Steve’s intentions, some of his Predator Team Mates approached Trackstar with the aim of giving him a send off to remember and now Psycho’s Axe Terminator has been born and will take place on Saturday 18 May 2013.

Early reaction to the meeting has been astonishing with an amazing response from drivers who are looking at helping to make Steve’s big day something really special with several drivers renowned for bringing out great material already scouring to see what they can race on the big day. Although we will not be publishing a car list for this meeting once bookings are accepted, it is already looking like being a fantastic day of material. For example Peewee has told Psycho that he is planning to race the best car he has been seen in and coming from a driver who has raced the cars which Peewee has that statement certainly gets the juices flowing!!

Several drivers and one or two teams we have not seen around the raceway for a number of years have also hinted at making reappearance!

168 Unlimited Bangers will be accepted for the meeting and it is already looking that the meeting will get close to being full

Although the meeting is someway off we can reveal the following points about the day;

• Bookings will be by booking form only. These forms will be available at the 2013 Unlimited Banger Icebreaker. A £5 deposit which will be returned at the meeting will have to be paid when cars are booked in.
• All drivers who race will receive a special commemorative award which will be presented by Steve to each driver on the pre meeting parade.
• We will be looking to run special races for “older” cars by giving them their own heats and consolation where possible.
• The meeting will be looking to raise money for FORDS. We will be looking for sponsors for various awards throughout the night. These awards will include race winner and entertainer awards. The cost of sponsorship will be £100 and each sponsor will get an advert in the programme together with the opportunity to present their award on track and they will also receive a commemorative award. All money raised this way will go to Fords. In addition various drivers have already pledged items to be donated in a Fords raffle where the top prize will be Psycho’s famous axe fin plate which will be presented at the end of the meeting!
• Impact videos will be sponsoring a special Psycho DVD which will feature an interview with Steve together with some of his racing exploits over the past two decades. This dvd will be available for free to each driver who races together with each spectator who purchases an advance ticket for the meeting before the 1^st May.
• A full colour A4 32 Page souvenier programme will be given to everyone who attends the meeting. We will be looking for fan’s and drivers memories and stories about Psycho closer to the meeting!
• The meeting will have a £1500 Prize Fund. The exact split of the prize find has yet to be announced but the one thing that Psycho has already decided is that the majority of the money will go to entertainers and drivers with special cars. The maximum amount being paid out on a heat win will be £1.50 with the winner of the Axe-Tinction final taking home £3!!
