Booth Claims World of Shale Success

Congratulations to 216 Dan Booth who won the 1300 Saloon Stock Car World of Shale Championship at Sheffield's Owlerton Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Having topped the qualifying points, the Trackstar top dog started from pole position and was never headed in a dominant display. 447 Richard Hampshire looked set to challenge early on before dropping back and eventually pulling off with a puncture.

The Moat family provided plenty of entertainment as they squabbled over the minor podium places, 573 Shane eventually prevailing from father 673 John and European Champion 473 Dean. 215 Ben Yould and 316 Danny McCluskey completed the top six in a Trackstar whitewash.

The Rainer family was another not afraid to have a good scrap amongst themselves as 653 Gemma was spun by brother-in-law 235 Danny, before recovering to beat him to seventh spot. The biggest prang of the race befell 209 Jonny Pearce who certainly tested the strength of the lethal post and rope fence.

National points champion-elect Booth can now add two gold stripes to his roof, which he is sure to sport with pride when the 1300s are next in action at King's Lynn on 9 December.
