Fisher Steals Show at Coventry

Report Mark Paulson

Newcomer 344 Ross Fisher stole the show on Saturday night as the 1300 saloon stock cars had an 'away' meeting at Coventry. The youngster made a mockery of his novice white grade by roaring to a heat and final double. In between times, Spedeworth veteran 71 Steve O'Dell took the second heat, as the Trackstar boys had a mixed night in absolutely freezing conditions.
Superstars 473 Dean Moat (current European Champion), his father 673 John Moat (in son Shane's car) and 216 Dan Booth (proudly displaying his silver roof with twin gold stripes as national points and world of shale champion) fought their way through the pack superbly for third, fourth and fifth places in the meeting final, having had little success in the earlier heats.
177 Chris Masters and 316 Danny McCluskey showed off smart new paint-jobs on their freshened up cars, the former looking fast on his way to second in heat one. Mention must also go to Stevenage duo 350 Robert and 450 Luke Jackson who turned out a pair of splendid-looking Toyota Starlets. You'll be able to see both those when the 1300s return to the Norfolk Arena this Saturday, 2 March, to contest the annual Clive Grief Memorial. A big turnout is expected including a number of travelling drivers, eager to gain experience of the track ahead of the August-staging of the 2013 World Championship.
