Following the 1300 Stock Car European Championship at HRP Lochgelly Raceway; Hardie Race Promotions and Spedeworth Motorsports wish to make the following announcement:
Following the conclusion of the 1300 Stock Car European Championship at HRP Lochgelly Raceway on Saturday June 15th; the cars of the top four in the championship race (529, 67, 79 and 234) were taken to the HRP Inspection Area for post-race checks as is standard procedure. The first and second placed cars (cars 529 and 67) were found to be in contravention of the rules pertaining to ride height and were therefore removed from the result that evening. The cars of 79 and 234 were then held in a secure area overnight until the next day. On the morning of Sunday June 16th; more detailed checks were carried out on car 79 which had originally finished in third place. Car 79 was found to have a shortened steering arm on the driver’s side which does not comply with the current rule book and therefore was removed from the results. Car 234 (Spedeworth #23) was checked following the meeting on Sunday June 16th - the vacuum pipe from carburettor to distributor was in two pieces with a self-tapper joining the two separate pieces of hose - this is against the rules.
It is terribly unfortunate that all of the cars held for post-race inspection failed these checks for varying technicalities. However, rules are rules and therefore, as a result of every member of the top four being removed from their positions; this results in the 1300 Stock Car European Championship for 2013 being declared null and void.
