Unlimited Mechanics Race to raise funds for FORDS

King's Lynn will be holding its mechanics "Fords" mechanics race fundraiser on Sunday 18 August in Unlimited Bangers. This race will be the first on the programme and the cars will be able to be used by regular drivers in the main meeting.

More information on the FORDS Mechanics Fundraiser & Championship appears below;

"We are thrilled to announce a new Championship for 2013 - for banger mechanics! This is a revival of the mechanics’ races that were once held at many tracks but have fallen by the wayside in recent years, with the added twist of raising vital funds for FORDS Care, the ORCi Ben Fund for drivers injured while racing, staff in the line of duty and photographers at all ORCi tracks.

Each ORCi track will hold one Qualifying round. The top three finishers and the top fundraiser from each round will each receive a trophy. The winner is guaranteed a place at the Finals at Ipswich at a date to be confirmed; second and third place from each qualifier will go on a reserve list. As this is for the drivers’ ben fund there will be no cash prizes for Qualifiers but depending on the success of the Championship, we may be able to help with travel costs to the Final.

Mechanics cannot have ever held a race licence. They must have their car sponsored by a driver holding a full ORCi licence and raise £60 minimum sponsorship. FORDS will cover their day licence fee. Booking in must be done by the sponsoring driver through the Promoter as normal. Promoters have the choice of which banger formula to use at their Qualifier but all rounds will be to nudge and spin rules. This is a fun event so we don’t want any stroppiness - but if there was, fines (decided by the ORCi) would be payable to FORDS.

If you would like to sponsor trophies for a Qualifying round please contact Manuela at FORDS, mail info@fords-care.com, phone 0333 577 5422 or 07870 383096. Dates will be published soon on our Events page and will also be on the Promoters’ fixture lists. "
