It is with deep sadness that we learned of the recent passing of former Trackstar National Banger Superstar 567 Geoff Pallett following a short battle with cancer last Sunday.
"Zippy" was a massive part of the Trackstar scene particularly during the time the promotion was at Swaffham. He raced all classes of National Banger and could be guaranteed to be part of any Trackstar Banger meeting - even on a wet midweek Skegness Wednesday in April when 6 cars would turn up you could guarantee 567 would be one of them.
Zippy was one of the formulas first Superstars when the grade was first introduced in the formula. His biggest success came in the 1500cc Bangers where he became the first driver to win the National Championship twice - or as it was known back then the BangerStox World Championship - taking the flag in 1996 at Swaffham and also winning the race when it was held at King's Lynn for the first time in 2001.
Known as a formidable competitor on track Zippy was always one of the first to help anyone in the pits.
Geoff is also the father of 566 Tony Pallett - Zippy Jnr who has followed in his father's famous footsteps by excelling in the 1500cc Bangers. Tony won the 1500cc Banger title which his father was a double winner of last December and in doing so became the first father and son winner of the coveted crown in the event's 25 year history. Geoff was immensley proud of Tony's acheivements.
Our thoughts and condolences are now with Tony and all of the Pallett family and Geoff''s friends.
There will be a minute's silence in rememberence of Zippy at the 1500cc Banger Icebreaker this Sunday.
