Junior Bangers Pre’95 event
We are pleased to confirm, following requests to run such an event, the Classic Cars R Us Junior Bangers meeting on the Saturday 10th August will now run to a Pre’95 stipulation, with racing that night also coming from 1980 and prior National Bangers.
The meeting will be strictly for pre 1995 cars from the eligible car list in the ORCi rules but the following will also apply:
1. Due to it’s current popularity and common usage the Nissan Micra K11 will not be permitted
2. Ford Fiesta Mk4 will be permitted but only using the Endura-E (a.k.a. ‘rattler’) engine. 1.25 Zetec engines will not be allowed
Car build/preparation is to conform to the Junior Banger rules, as will the rules of the racing. We will allow some leeway for engine swaps to get cars on track – please check your plans with the promotion to get agreement before starting to build. We will definitely not be allowing K11 engines in K10 Micra. Driver bookings will open in the usual manner, 2 weeks before the event. This meeting will count towards the National Points chart.
We have received a very encouraging number of responses and enquiries following the announcement of the Junior Banger fixture on 10th August being run to a pre’95 format.
Following enquiries concerning the pre ’95 Junior Banger event on 10th August, the following announcement is made:
On RWD cars only, the running of distributor and / or cam guards will be permitted. This can only be bolted to the engine. It cannot be butted or connected or bolted to any of the
engine mounting bolts or cradle bolts or water tank, and must be made of flat plate maximum 5mm thickness. The guard can have no side plates or gussets – just a bracket to bolt to the engine. The purpose of the guard is to protect the front of the engine, the distributor and crank sensors as relevant to the engine being used. Anything deemed excessive will have to be removed or altered.
To assist with some of the more commonly received queries, an edited copy of the car eligibility list from the 2024 Junior Banger ORCi rules is set out below indicating the cars that can be used. This list is not completely exhaustive and enquiries about the eligibility of other cars are welcomed. However, it goes without saying that other cars will need to be of a very similar size to those listed to be accepted to race.

As stated in the rules, we would also like to point out that locked differentials are not permitted in Junior Bangers and this rule does not change as a result of a meeting being staged where a number of rear wheel drive cars are going to be used.
We look forward to seeing the Juniors being able to race some old school cars!
