Holmes looking to bring the gold home.

Joey Holmes (90) is one of the leading drivers of the Junior Banger scene, racking up wins where ever he races. He won the Points Championship here at King’s Lynn in 2017, he won the English championship last year at Stoke and more recently the World Cup up in Scotland last month. Here he answers some questions for Keith Organ ahead of the World Final race at King's Lynn, Monday 7th May.

KO: It seems to have been a good year for you so far?

JH: It has been a good year so far, a busy one already though!  Winning the World Cup made the travelling up to Scotland well worth it.

KO: You won a heat and final here last time, you seem to like Lynn?

JH: I love King’s Lynn, it’s one of my favourite shale tracks. It’s so fast, smooth and always plenty going on in the races.

KO: You will be tipped as one of the favourites for the main race; how are you feeling about the race, any game plan?

JH: I’m looking forward to the World Final, it’s one race I have never even finished. I was so close to winning it last year, but my luck run out with 2 laps to go. I haven’t got a plan, I’ll just go out and do my best, if it happens, it happens.

KO: Who do you see as your biggest rival?

JH: Everyone is a rival in a big race! Everyone is trying to be World Champ.

KO: How many years you got left doing Junior bangers and what you think you will do next, National Bangers?

JH: I have until February 2020 until I have get too old and have to move up, we’re hoping to do Nationals, but it’s still so far away! I definitely want to do an unlimited meeting at some point.

KO: Anything you want to add/ anyone to thank:

JH: I want to thank my dad for everything he does for me, doing all my cars, driving me everywhere so I can race and for all the advice he gives me. Plus thanks to Asheley for helping Dad and to my sponsors A.C Race Fabrications and Gamble Motorsport.

With thanks to Joey for his time helping with this. Good luck to him in the main race and for the rest of the season; find out how he does Monday 7th May; action get’s going at 1pm.
