The traditional Christmas fixture featured Micro Bangers, 1300 Stock Cars and Junior Bangers this year, with strong fields in attendance given the time of year, high 50’s in the Micro Bangers, mid 20’s for the 1300s and an incredible 45 Junior Bangers in the pits – the highest turnout outside of a Championship event, and it was brilliant to see. Heavy rain in the proceeding days meant some addition track work was needed during the morning to help ready the raceway. The weather forecast did it’s best to spoil the occasion, with rain forecast all day, thankfully the rain only arrived for the last few races and not enough to be of detriment to the racing line that had developed.
A heavy heat 1 in the Micro Bangers set the tone for the afternoon, with some good action and racing through the meeting. Lenny Murkin (608) continued his good form since transitioning to adult racing, racing to the win in the opening race, Ryan Hawes (621) winner of the second and New National Points Champion Ashley Garrod (337) the third. James Licquorice (51) raced to victory in the Final and finished last car running in the Destruction Derby meaning Dover Boy’s B took the points win; the Predators taking the Entertainers league victory. A steady day of 1300 Stock Car action saw the lower graders in charge, Toddy Payne (149) showing he can still find the form taking three of the four races on offer. In the Juniors, the number of white graders in attendance meant having to spilt them for the first two races, Jack Wright (996) carried on from the previous meeting taking the opener; Mikey Whitehall (74) won the second. A dead heat was declared in the third race, Jade Ellis (85) and Jack Wright (96) unable to be spit, both declared as first place. Liam Waterfall (291) took heat 4 before Rhys Mills (817) won the final.
